Privacy Policy

My JSON Editor is a client-side application. Every operation you perform — opening a file, formatting, validating, sorting, saving — happens inside your own browser, using your own device's resources. There is no server component that receives your documents.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, transmit, store, or have any technical means of accessing:

• The contents of any JSON document you open, paste, or edit.
• The names or paths of files you open from your device.
• Any account information, because there are no accounts.

This is a property of how the application is built, not a promise about how we behave. You can verify it: open your browser's developer tools, watch the network panel while you work, or disconnect from the internet entirely and keep using the editor.

The Convert pages work the same way: every conversion runs in your browser. Until the site can install itself for offline use, a Convert page works offline only once it has loaded — open it before the connection goes, and it keeps converting.

Loading from a URL is the one feature that makes a network request, and only when you use it. Your browser requests the address you enter directly from that site, without cookies and without telling it which page asked. The request never passes through our servers. The other site receives only what any website receives when you visit it, such as your IP address.

Image previews in the tree, table and graph show the picture when you point at a value that is an image. An image written into the document itself (a data: address) is shown without any request. An image at a web address is requested only when you pressLoad image, or after you tick Always load images on hover— directly from that site, without telling it which page asked. That site receives what any website receives when you visit it. Untick the box to go back to being asked.

What is stored on your device

The editor uses your browser's local storage to remember a small amount of state between visits, so that a refresh does not destroy your work:

• The document currently open in the editor, and its file name.
• Your theme preference (light, dark, or follow system).
• The position of the divider between the two panels.
• Whether image previews may load images from the web without asking.
• Whether the keyboard shortcuts list shows Mac keys or Windows and Linux keys, once you choose.
• Your editor settings: indent, code text size, line wrapping, and the view each panel opens in.

The Convert page also keeps its source, the source's name and the pair you chose in your browser's session storage, so a reload does not lose them. Session storage belongs to one tab and is cleared when the tab closes. A document you carry between the editor and a Convert page passes through it once and is deleted as it arrives.

This data never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Clearing your browser's site data for this domain removes all of it.

Cookies

We do not set cookies, and we do not use any analytics, tracking, or fingerprinting service.

Hosting

The site is served as static files by Cloudflare Pages. As with any website, the host processes standard technical request data such as your IP address in order to deliver the page to you, and keeps aggregate counts such as pages served and visitors' countries. We add no analytics script. This is ordinary web serving and is not linked to any document you edit.

Advertising

This site does not currently display advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any advertising code is deployed, and this section will describe what the advertising provider collects.

Changes

Any material change to this policy will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
